Donald Threatens "Dump Trump" Movement

Photobucket

“I am litigation counsel to Donald J Trump and hereby demand that you immediately cease your malicious efforts to tortiously interfere with Mr Trump’s business and contractual relationships. Failing which we will have no choice but to commence a major, multi-million dollar lawsuit against you, your organisation and co-conspirators.
. . . You are hereby forewarned that in the event that you continue your unlawful actions, including, without limitation, your interference with contract, Mr Trump will immediately sue you for compensatory, consequential and punitive damages, and seek not less than $25,000,000.00 in damages

From Yahoo News
Carusone's attorney, Paul Levy of Public Citizen, responded to Garten's letter with his own correspondence in January.
"Your letter repeatedly asserts, without any factual basis, that Carusone has exaggerated the extent to which members of the public have endorsed his boycott effort; you also contend, again without being specific, that Carusone casts Trump in a false light," Levy's letter reads.
"Your letter repeatedly asserts, without any factual basis, that Carusone has exaggerated the extent to which members of the public have endorsed his boycott effort; you also contend, again without being specific, that Carusone casts Trump in a false light," the letter reads.
"There is a well-established First Amendment right to advocate a boycott over policy-related objections ... I have no reason to believe that there is a tort of exaggerating the public support for a political campaign," Levy continues. "If there were such a tort, I imagine that most candidates for public office, no doubt including your client, would be liable at one point or another."

“We did send him a letter,” Trump confirmed. “Whether we act on the letter or not is subject to seeing what goes on.” Carusone’s protest and comments against him represent “an interference of a contractual relationship,” Trump said. “We have a great relationship with Macy’s. He knows it.”

Carusone said the campaign could resume the deployment of anti-Trump mobile billboards at Macy's sites. The campaign had vehicles circle Macy's stores in Ohio and New York last year, and Carusone said planning was in place around "expanding those efforts to other cities and localities" and potentially protesting Macy's events.
"I think that Macy's has a stable of relationships and they do lots of events with some of their partners. When you're having one of these singers or musicians down to Macy's to the next big event that they do, having some big event there in the form of an advertisement or individuals is part of the process too

"By threatening me, Trump is only reinforcing the point that we've been trying to get Macy's to recognize: [T]hat Trump's brand is consequence-free bullying and chicanery; it shouldn't be rewarded."
Carusone went on to say, "I was also surprised to hear Trump's counsel claim that Macy's is supportive of Trump's legal action. Trump doesn't have credibility, so I don't put too much stock in the claim, but I really hope Macy's isn't encouraging these kinds of threats against its own customers.”

. . . they actually sued me for the $5 million. And don't forget, this is not a libel case. No, no. They seem to be trying to set a bold new precedent that jokes on late-night talk shows are now legally binding agreements between the comedian and the person they're making fun of. Yes, I'm sure this will go all the way to the Supreme Court.
You know, I'll tell you something. The legal system in this country, it's not a joke. It's not a toy for rich idiots to play with. (audience applause)
~ Comedian Bill Maher on Donald Trump suing him over an orangutan joke

Donald Trump is MAD you guys! MAD MAD MAD! Mr. Bad Hairweave McHairweave (please do not sue Wonket, Mr. Trump! If you’d like, we can just say that your hairweave is allegedly bad?) had his pet lawyer send a cease-and-desist letter to the folks at Dump Trump.
. . . Did you sign a lie-brul petition lately? Then you probably owe Donald Trump all your money and should go to jail.
~ Wonkette

Maybe Tramp should be sued for a billion dollar trying to violate someone's constitutional right to express his opinion.

The elephantine ego, with the road-kill squirrel hairpiece, that we know as Donald Trump has emerged again from his lair to make squealing noises about some affront to his imaginary immunity from criticism.
. . . Rest assured that this suit is going nowhere. It would be laughed out of court by any reputable judge. Which is too bad for Trump because this appears to be the only way he has of making any money. His business record is replete with bankruptcies and he recently had to unload his Trump Plaza in Atlantic City for a record low price that was less than 10% of its original cost to build.
